434: Ficus carica

Hello, plant lovers! Welcome to another episode of Talking to Plants, where I share my adventures in trying to communicate with our green friends. Today, I’m going to tell you about my 434th attempt to speak with a plant, this time with a Ficus carica, also known as a fig tree. The plants either ignored me, wilted, or dropped their leaves. I was starting to lose hope that I would ever find a way to connect with them. But then I came across an article that claimed that fig trees can communicate with each other through their roots. They can send signals to warn each other of pests, droughts, or other threats.
